Photography Project - Skater Fashion

For this series of 4 shots, I wanted to capture the elements of what a high-fashion skater shoot would look like. In a nutshell I wanted it to be Thrasher magazine meets Seventeen Magazine. I wanted it to be styled and posed, but only to a certain point. I still tried my best to incorporate a grungy and rough touch to each photo.

The main opening shot really provides that contrast I was looking for, with the white tile background that provides a great structural and clean element, while the model is grungy and punk. Overall, I really enjoy the colors and vibe that these photos give off, and I hope you do as well.

This is one of the very first projects I ever added to my portfolio. I was still attempting to use what I had on hand, which really was just a lot of time on my hands, my DSLR camera, and GIMP  — a free image manipulation software — instead of Adobe Suite. I believe this was the start of my professional creative journey, because once I began feeling comfortable with my camera in public, the world was my oyster.
