Video Project - Immersion

This college video project was intended to immerse the viewer into an environment. I wanted to immerse the viewer in a very nostalgic atmosphere, specifically something many of us have experienced in our childhood - video games. I wanted to portray the games and accessories almost in a toy story fashion in the beginning with the lighting, almost as if they're waiting silently to be played with.

I also wanted to focus on the little sounds such as clicks on the power switch, the pushing of buttons, and the sounds effects coming from the game. Those tiny details may seem like everyday sounds, but sometimes there are certain clicks and buttons that really spark a memory in your mind.

The close-up eye shots are meant to show how a video game can really take you to another world in the comfort of your own home, and how immersive a video game can truly be regardless of how old it is.

This was my very first video project for a class, and I used my trusty Nikon D3400 DSLR, as well as my iPhone flashlight to create the beginning scenes where small glimpses of the video games are shown. When it came to editing, I used a combination of Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro.
